Protheroe House is in the process of being sold, however in June Homes for Haringey were informed that Protheroe House was squatted. The Tenancy Management Officer attended the property on two separate occasions with the Police to remove the squatters under the new Squatting Legislation, however on both occasions the squatters challenged the designation of the site. The squatters claimed that the building is a commercial premises and not residential, due to this the Police decided not to proceed with the eviction. A meeting was then convened with the Police and HFH, to discuss the issues further. Following the meeting an agreement was reached with the Police to evict the squatters. We are waiting for the Police to confirm when the eviction will take place, as this will have to be programmed into their work schedule and will require a large number of Police Officers and dog handlers to attend.
